Amazon has launched a program in India called 'Local Shops
on Amazon'. Under this program, Amazon has expanded its business and connected
it to local shopkeepers. Amazon's move aims to compete with Reliance Retail's
JioMart and increase Flipkart's troubles through it.
Let us know, the company
has been working on this pilot project with more than 5,000 offline retailers
and shopkeepers for the last 6 months. In addition, Amazon has invited new
small-local shoppers to be part of its program. The company is going to invest
more than 10 crores in this program.
Amazon has introduced this new program to allow customers to
order online and provide scalability to offline shoppers. The company has
already partnered with vendors from major cities as well as tier-1 and tier-2
cities, including Ahmedabad, Coimbatore, Delhi, Faridabad, Hyderabad, Indore,
Jaipur, Lucknow, Mumbai, Pune, Saharanpur, And cities such as Surat.
This
program is not limited to a local grocery store and electricity store only. In
fact, the company has also connected other vendors in more than 100 cities of
the country, including vendors of automotive, books, furniture, home decor,
home appliances, sports and toys.
Of the offline retailers who are being included in this
program of Amazon, only one condition has been placed to complete the delivery
of the goods by one day or the next day. With this help, Amazon will also not
have to increase the number of its delivery executives.

Apart from this, offline retailers will be provided with a
recently launched Amazon Delivery App, with the help of which they will be able
to give an update of product delivery to their customer and through which
Amazon can track the shipment.
Of course, Amazon's local shop on Amazon program will prove
profitable for the company. To prevent the spread of coronavirus, the Indian
government has imposed a lockdown across the country, due to which Amazon and
Amazon's rival Flipkart are unable to deliver large numbers of audiences.
However, now the local shop program will help Amazon overcome this problem.
Local sellers can become part of this program by visiting
the website of Amazon India. A page has been created for this program on the
website, which says that there will be no additional charge to join the
initiative. Standard charges for selling goods on online platforms will apply
to local shop sellers.
