WhatsApp will compete with e-commerce like Flipkart and Amazon through JioMart

WhatsApp is now fully ready to compete with Flipkart, owned by Amazon and Walmart, through Reliance Retail's e-commerce venture JioMart. This was revealed during a partnership between Facebook and Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) on Wednesday.

Let us know that Reliance has announced that Facebook has bought a 9.99 per cent stake in Jio Platform Limited, which is worth Rs 43,574 crore. On the basis of this partnership, Facebook will expand in India through RIL's Jio platform. For the company, India is the second-largest Internet market in the world after China with over 480 million connected users.

Reliance Retail introduced JioMart in January this year on the basis of pilot testing in Navi Mumbai, Thane and Kalyan regions of Maharashtra.

Reliance Industries statement that due to the new partnership between Reliance Jio platform, Reliance Retail and WhatsApp, customers will soon be able to transact in JioMart using WhatsApp to get "easy access to their nearest grocery stores" and products in their homes. And get services.

It is reported that the JioMart platform has already started preparing to compete with Amazon and Flipkart. The company has several small merchants and grocery stores for Indian consumers. However, its operations are yet to begin in the country.

Reliance Jio plans to push Geomart to compete with Amazon and Flipkart

On the other hand, WhatsApp has made changes to its core platform for small businesses in some other markets including India. The Facebook-owned company launched a dedicated WhatsApp Business app in January 2018 to make communication easier for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Apart from this, WhatsApp Pay was also released, which would make payment easier. However, this feature is currently in testing mode. Due to this feature, users can do digital transactions from within the app itself. It is also important to note that WhatsApp already has 400 million or more than 400 million users in the country.

Although WhatsApp did not have any local means of earning even after having so many users, now with the help of big domestic player like Reliance, instant messaging app is ready to emerge as a major means of earning money for Facebook.
