TikTok Data Privacy Leak : Be careful if you are using this app

Two developers over TikTok have claimed that the company
uses unsecured networks to send its data repository, putting TikTok users'
privacy at risk.
These are both iOS developers and they say that TikTok
allegedly uses "unsafe HTTP to download media content that endangers
users' privacy. Explaining this in simple terms, in HTTP If the traffic is unencrypted,
then hackers can easily track it and even change that data. This means that the data of TikTok users can be accessed by hackers including their watch history.
Let us know that the company has not yet responded to this security negligence
by both developers at Tik Tok.

The developers, Talal Hajj Beri and Tommy Misk revealed in
a blog post that due to the use of unsafe HTTP, hackers can "replace the
videos shared by TikTok users with any other video they wish, Even if it is
from a video verified account, the developers have also told that this
negligence can also expose the watch history of the users.
In their blog post about the security threat of TikTok
users, the developers have further stated that TikTok, like any other social
media portal relies on external servers or content delivery networks (CDNs) to
deliver its data repository. The post states that TicketLock's CDN opts
for unencrypted (unsafe) HTTP to transfer video and other media data.
This simply means that anyone who can see this network
traffic passing through a Wi-Fi router can also easily read the information
coming from TikTok's servers and without any other video being detected by
users.
The developers say that the reduction is currently running
only on one version of TikTok, including iOS version 15.5.6 and Android version
15.7.4.
